Review of "Robbery in a Hurricane" 2018

Films about the robbery have become classics in the action genre, and sometimes they are revealed in the form of a dramatic action movie. They pleased and delight the audience with the spectacle, and the creators with not the greatest risk in production, and often with good box office receipts. In general, the framing format performs in most films of the environment, and the originality here looks like a gesture of respect for the audience. In the case of the film "Robbery in a Hurricane" directed by Rob Cohen, a hurricane was used as a "meaningful frame", under the guise of which robbers are trying to rob a money vault, and a whole team took over the script - Rob Cohen, Carlos Davis, Anthony Fingleton, Jeff Dixon, Scott Windhauser. A very interesting analogy of such a plot can be called a pretty good film "Downpour" by Mikael Salomon, shot in 1997.

So, meteorologist Will arrives in his hometown, over which a huge hurricane is gathering and which he is trying to assess. At the same time, the robbers are about to rob the US Federal Treasury, which has just received a shipment of written-off money for $ 600,000,000, but Agent Casey, a principled agent, gets in the way, who sees something amiss in the suspicious "tech support" from the very beginning. Of course, the criminals easily manage to neutralize an entire military unit, but they are given a fight by a charming woman, a nerdy meteorologist who immediately becomes a "knight without fear and reproach," and his brother, a former military Breeze.

The events take place quite dynamically, the author introduces and removes the characters, playing out the plot of the confrontation between a small group of daredevils and an army of thugs, who, moreover, cannot plan their actions in the development of a force majeure situation. Indeed, quite spectacular pictures of the hurricane, however, with the assumption that everything plays into the hands of the "good guys", and the hand of the master is felt in everything. Although in many episodes and dialogues there is no obvious desire for improvisation.

The cast looks well-chosen, they didn't get the difficult task of playing out the drama of the confrontation. Toby Kebbell (Victor von Doom in 2015's Fantastic Four) embodies the image of a somewhat naive meteorologist, Ryan Kwanten is his brother Breeze, and their magical companion Casey is played by Maggie Grace. In general, the characters look quite artfully fitted, but they are not prominent enough, which is noticeable in the dialogues.

Generally speaking, we have in this case a classic and high-quality embodiment of a classic plot, with classic cliches. The tape is suitable for a light evening for an unassuming spectator who does not require special attention, and is ideal for an evening with beer and popcorn - the same type of relaxed pastime where many people also enjoy simple online entertainment, and can easily login to Astronaut game website for a quick round between movies.
