Tinykin Review - Milo and His Minions

Tinykin is a marvelous platform game Friv2Online that will likely take its competition seriously for the Game of the Year title. That's right, this title is that good. We tell in the review why Tinykin gives a feeling of delight.

The protagonist of the game is a resident of a distant planet named Milo. Wanting to find out the truth about his origin, the boy goes on a journey through time and space, which throws him to the Earth of the 1990s. Moreover, it turns out that Milo is the size of a finger, his ship broke down, and the civilization of intelligent insects that settled inside one of the human houses will help fix it.

In search of spare parts for restoring the starship, the protagonist will visit several rooms, from the living room and bedroom to the kitchen and bathroom, and help the peoples inhabiting them solve various problems. For example, some beetles want the whole world to hear their song - which means that it is necessary to set up and run a tape recorder. And others desperately need to bake a cake - so you have to look for ingredients and figure out how to deliver them to the baking place.

And that's not all: many residents of the miniature world are happy to share additional tasks with Milo, such as collecting letters for the postal service or searching for the lost daughter of one of the ants. You want to complete the tasks, because for this the hero receives collectible items for the local mistress of the museum, and not only - for example, for the accumulation of pollen scattered over the locations, the potion ant will give Milo soap bubbles, which will allow him to plan further, overcoming long distances.

The dialogue is full of jokes, and the NPCs parody famous characters. In the hospital, Dr. House convinces the assistant that the patient has lupus, Lera Croft is hunting for relics, and Rose asks her to give her beloved Jack a board, because he cannot swim and may drown in the upcoming party, which is planned in the bathroom.

But the main prize for charm goes to the taynikins. These are funny creatures that inhabited the world and did not obey anyone until the arrival of Milo. Now they never leave the traveler and help him in his adventures. Cute and quirky, they are ready to take on any command.

Tynikins vary in color and ability. Pink ones are strong men: they can lift anything and carry it anywhere. The red ones are explosive, so they can be used to destroy obstacles. The Greens climb on top of each other, creating a makeshift tower that the hero can climb up. Blues conduct electricity, so if you need to fix a broken wire, that's their job. Finally, yellow taynikins build bridges over chasms.

Many tasks require a certain number of minions. For example, fifteen taynikins will raise that book, and if the player has at least one less of them, nothing will work. You have to look into all corners to find creatures, and in one place the player can wait for red taynikins, and in another, say, pink ones. And sometimes you can't get to one without using the other. The most obvious example is to destroy the barrier with the help of the red minions to free the blue ones. Although it is not always so simple: sometimes Tinykin makes you break your head. But by the end of the study of the location around Milo, a good hundred funny helpers are gathering.

Each room in the game is a complex complex with a pile of furniture, household appliances and other household utensils. Navigating here is not easy, finding a way to hard-to-reach places is even more difficult. Milo can float in soap bubbles and slide on a bar of soap like a skateboard, and when he gets close to a silkworm, he will stretch out a thread that he can use to quickly move between parts of the room.

And the main advantage of Tinykin is that the game does not bother at all, but on the contrary, it demonstrates easy and enjoyable gameplay. Secretkins are one-click controlled, pathfinding is rarely a problem, tasks are solved by exploration, there are no battles, and the platforming is perfectly balanced - it is quite simple, but at the same time offers some kind of challenge so that the player does not get bored.

This is complemented by a nice visual design that combines 2D characters and 3D environments, and an unobtrusive soundtrack. As a result, the project has become one of the best gaming experiences of the summer of 2022. If you are looking for a short, colorful and relaxing adventure, Tinykin is the perfect option. Also free if you pre-purchased an Xbox Game Pass subscription.
